April 12th,2013 - Pavlik harness
My little angel Emma is 4 months today but instead of celebrating we had a meeting with the orthopedist and she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia on the left hip. How was i disappointed. Immediately after that we were sent to have her Pavlik harness fitted. Within half an hour my little girl was in this harness that spread her legs like a little frog and she could not move them. Once we went home she fell alseep but when she woke up, she cried so much. In the nigh she could not sleep so I had to rock her to fall asleep. The doctor said that she would need to stay in the harness for at least 3 months.
Emma us such a happy and talkative 4 month old and now she is so sad, she cries a lot and doesn't sleep through the night as she used to before. I am getting more and more tired, havng to go to work every day except Fridays...
On the weekend when we changed her daiper and clothes we saw that she doesn't stretch the left leg the way she does with the righ leg, so we went to the ER, luckily there was an orthopdist there as well who checked her and said that all looked fine. On monday I called her doctor's office and they said that this is ok and on Tuesday I had my husband go with her to the specialist for the harness to check if everything was ok and if we place it properly - that was also in order.
We have another appoitnment for X-ray and check up nect Tuesday an i still pray for a miracle but I should be realistic. We do this for my little girl, for her future so she doesn't have a hip operation when she is older.
